My vote goes in for Argentina after their rousing game against Nigeria, because, let’s face it, the U.S. tie with England wasn’t exactly a shining moment for our playbook (nor for Brit goalie, Robert Green). Oh, and there’s Argetina’s powerhouse, Lionel Messi. Enough said. Argentina’s next opponent is South Korea, which beat Greece in the first game. The U.S. is headed to play Slovenia, which shouldn’t be too much competition, since they’re pretty new at the whole playing football as Slovenia thing (rather than Yugoslavia…who knew?).
The second round doesn’t kick in until the 26th, when the real contenders can get down to business, hopefully Argentina can clean up in their bracket to make it to the big games. Can’t wait!
